Escalation Path Design The AI Governance Lead documents and rehearses the escalation path, ensuring accessibility to every person who may need to initiate it. For each severity tier, the path defines who is notified, through which channel, within what timeframe, and what actions are expected. Escalation paths account for out-of-hours scenarios (on-call rotation with defined response SLAs), key person unavailability (named alternates for every role), and multi-jurisdiction incidents (where different authorities in different time zones need notification by the Legal and Regulatory Advisor). The escalation path is documented in the PMM plan and tested annually through tabletop exercises. Each escalation event is logged: the alert that triggered it, the persons notified, the response time, the actions taken, and the resolution. This log provides evidence of a functioning escalation framework and identifies areas where the framework needs improvement. Key outputs

  • Per-tier escalation path with channels, timeframes, and expected actions
  • Out-of-hours, alternate-person, and multi-jurisdiction provisions
  • Annual tabletop exercise testing
  • Escalation event logging for framework improvement
