Conformity assessment is the process by which the provider demonstrates that the high-risk AI system meets the requirements of the EU AI Act. Annex VI internal assessment is the default pathway for most high-risk systems, enabling the provider to conduct the assessment without notified body involvement. Assessment execution methodology defines the five-phase assessment process.

Pre-assessment readiness addresses evidence currency, the evidence register, and per-requirement assessment checklists. Assessor independence and competence establishes qualifications, conflict-of-interest declarations, and ongoing training. Non-conformity management defines the resolution workflow from finding through corrective action to closure verification.

Notified bodies covers the external assessment pathway required for biometric systems and other designated categories. Multi-system assessment, continuous assessment and surveillance, and assessment tools and technology address scaling and efficiency. The QMS framework documents the quality management system required by Article 17. The section concludes with artefacts.
